Key Info
What should I wear?
It's a wedding! Wear your lovely dress, a nice suit, classic wedding wear. There's places to change into evening party gear if you want to channel your inner Lady GaGa, we're fully available for that. Portsmouth is usually warm by the end of April but you know what luck is like so maybe go for layers. This isn't a drippy old place they are lovely Victorian rooms. If you want to dance your socks off or check out the tunnels bring a small pair of flats or trainers maybe, there's room to store them.
What will I eat for lunch?
Lunch food will be served in a buffet style so you can leave off anything that offends you or your tummy. Let us know on the rsvp if you have any allergies and we can either mark the food or ban it if it will literally bump you off.
The current menu can be seen here, please go ahead and click the button below to let us know what you would like and they will make sure it's all waiting and delicious for us.
What will I eat in the evening?
It's buffet time folks, we got you covered. Meaty things, not meaty things and cheese. It'll be ok. let the band have at the buffet first, those guys always get the scraps. Let us know if any food will kill you and we'll leave it off.
What about wedding gifts?
Wow thanks so much! We had lots of questions about gifts and we were ill prepared for this question so bless you! Please don't feel obliged we are inviting you because we are just darn excited to see your big face, but if you would like to look at a list, again thanks so much!
It says bring to wedding, but clearly if you clubbed together and it's a larger item let us know
Help! I'm a bit wonky, how will I get around?
Never fear, you're not alone, quite a few of us have accessibility needs. There's some disabled parking spaces and a lift in the main galley. The walk to the rooms isn't bad but if you need to go the shortest way please let the team know because they will help you.
What is the deal with booze and ting?
There's a simple bar in the venue, they advise us the prices ain't quite spoons but they won't charge crazy wedding venue money. There will be diet drinks and booze free drinks, as well as free tea and coffee all day.
Where should I stay?
It might be convenient and fun to be in the same place as most guests, handy for cabs and we are looking to join you for breakfast the next day so if that sounds cool we advise Premier Inn - North Harbour. Please make sure it's that one as we have loads and you don't want to be totally in the wrong place! This is the website you want don't worry if it gets full as there's another one next door so let us know and we will give you the details!
Of course you can try a local B&B etc if you prefer, just be warned obviously it's a seaside town and Easter time so book early.
Can my partner / kids / best friend come?
The venue we've picked is super strict on the numbers being correct as it is literally a working armaments museum that has munitions storage! So for this reason we have had to really wrack our brains about how to fit you all in. This means we can only accommodate specifically the people named on your invitation. We really appreciate your understanding with that, we just really really wanted you to come! We promise that we have thought this out really hard and no one should find they are flying solo with no one they know, honest xx
Eeeek what about the 'rona?
OK it's not ideal, but who knew the apocalypse would have weddings? It is worth a mention here that Ian is highly vulnerable, I am vulnerable, and so are quite a few others who are wonky / over 70 / both (but still fabulous).
We don't have vast numbers and the rooms are large but there will be a lot of singing and having fun so please pop a cheeky lat flow before coming along to ensure you're not accidentally 'that guy' who is patient zero of the party. And of course if you have cold symptoms or classic rona symptoms please get a big boy test.
Let's be honest it's going to happen to some poor guest to get a positive test and miss it, so if it happens to you we promise to come see you when you're better with a huge slice of cake and a slideshow of incriminating photos.
As we have experienced recently even with this much care you can be exposed to it but let's do our best to keep each other safe xx
